Mundford 1 Brandon Lads 4
Brandon visited Mundford for a
local derby on a miserable, grey Sunday morning.
In the first 10 minutes
Brandon pushed forward and Jake Vincent scored with and
excellent header to record Brandon's first ever U8's headed goal
- well done Jake!
Callum Horn (Jake's strike
partner) added another goal with a left footed finish to put
Brandon 2 up in the first quarter. Ben Long and Alexander
Turner looked solid at the back and made some good
clearances, with Will Bales having very little to do in the
Brandon goal. After
the first break, Mundford came back into the game with a
nice finish from Jude Blakemore which Will Bales in the
Brandon goal was unlucky not to hold onto. At this point,
Brandon were scrappy and didn't play their normal game
of quick passing football. Cameron Francis came on and was
unlucky not to score after getting in some very good
positions up front and Alexander Turner kept snapping at the
heels of the Mundford attackers. In
the third quarter, Brandon pushed forward again and were
awarded a well deserved penalty when Callum Horn rifled a
shot towards the top left hand corner only to be denied by
an excellent save with both hands by one of the Mundford
defenders! Only fair that Callum stepped up and
slammed the ball passed the Mundford keeper who was
having an excellent game all round. Jake Vincent came
close twice more, once with his left and once with his right
foot.In the last 10 minutes Callum Horn added another goal
for Brandon and Will Bales made a superb finger tip save the
other end to deny Mundford another goal. Final score
Mundford 1 Brandon 4, not Brandon's best performance of
the season but Mundford have much improved.

Brandon Lads 7 Toftwood 2
In the first ten minutes the
game was very tight with both teams tackling well and
it was only good play from Brandon that put Callum Horn
through to open the scoring and make it 1-0 at the first
interval. Jake Vincent was unlucky not to score but was
being marked very closely by the Toftwood defence. Jack
Slater and Ben Long looked solid and competed well at the
back and in midfield.
In the second ten minutes it was
end to end play and Ben Long managed to calmly place the
ball passed the Toftwood keeper to edge Brandon further
ahead and give them a bit of breathing space. Toftwood were
having none of that and pushed forward hard. They were duly
rewarded with a penalty when the ball struck Jack Slater's
elbow from a cross inside the box. From the spot
Toftwood blasted the ball past the finger tips of Will
Bales in the Brandon goal to take the score to 2-1 to
Brandon at the half time break. After
the break and with the weather clearing up Brandon
started to pass the ball around and play some excellent football,
Callum Horn was absolutely outstanding and dominated the
game in attack and defence and to demonstrate this he
stepped up to take a free kick from inside the Brandon
half, smashed the ball from 30 yards into the Toftwood net -
I've never seen a free kick like it and it would win goal of
the month if it was on Match Of The Day!! Will Bales
made two more excellent saves from some long range shooting
from Toftwood and Alex Turner battled well at the back.
Cameron Francis continues to improve and was unlucky to just
blast an excellent shot into the Toftwood side netting. In
the last 10 minutes Brandon pushed forward and looked very
strong, Callum Horn netted another 3 and Jake Vincent
was eventually rewarded for all his hard work with an
excellent goal after pulling a penalty wide. Toftwood
managed to pull back another goal and the final score
finished Brandon 7 - Toftwood 2 with excellent
performances from Ben Long, Callum Horn, Jake Vincent,
Cameron Francis, Alex Turner, Jack Slater and Will
Bales in goal - Well Done - Brilliant Match!

Dereham Wanderers Blue 2 Brandon Lads Under 8 6
Brandon continue their excellent
start to the season with another win away to Dereham
Wanderers (blue).
On an extremely waterlogged
Dereham pitch, Brandon started off well passing the ball and
spreading the play across all of the pitch. They were
rewarded in the first ten minutes when Callum Horn blasted
the ball past the Dereham keeper after some excellent
approach play by Ben Long, Jake Vincent and Alex Turner.
In the second quarter
Brandon asserted their early authority and added a further
four goals from Callum Horn, two from Jake Vincent and one
from Ben Long to take the score to 5 - 0 at half time. Even
in the terrible conditions Brandon continued to amaze the
opposition players and supporters by playing some superb
passing football and taking apart the Dereham defence.
Cameron Francis was unlucky not to score but made some
excellent chances and he continues to improve with every
game. After the break
Dereham scored a well deserved individual goal straight from
the whistle when their centre forward dribbled all the way through
the Brandon players and slotted the ball home to give
Dereham a hope of a comeback. Alex Turner was solid in
defence and made some excellent challenges, although he
looked like a "mud" monster when the game was
finished. Jake Vincent battled well up front and had another
great game. Will Bales
was busier in the last 10 minutes and made some good
interceptions and clearances from the back but Callum Horn
was having none of it and fired home another long range shot
to put the game beyond Dereham. Dereham did add another
consolation goal but this was another superb passing
performance from Brandon in very very difficult conditions -
Well Done!
Man of the Match (voted by
Dereham) - Ben Long

Brandon Lads 6 Lakenheath 1
Thanks go to John Long (J.L
Landscapes, Hockwold) for his sponsorship of the Brandon
Lads U8's away shirts which they used today as there was a
colour clash. Within 5 minutes Brandon were 1-0 up when
Ben Long popped up to coolly side-foot the ball into the
back of the net after some excellent play by the Brandon
attackers. Jack Slater then stormed forward to put Brandon
2-0 with 6 minutes gone. Jake Vincent, not to be outdone,
put the ball beyond the Lakenheath keeper to make it 3-0 to
Brandon at the end of the first quarter. Callum Horn was
fantastic at left back and played some sensational balls
through the Lakenheath midfield to put Brandon on the attack
several times. In the
second ten minutes, Alexander Turner and Cameron Francis
appeared and Cameron was unlucky not to score. Alex played
well in defence and his tenacious tackling helped
Brandon get out of some potential sticky situations.
Lakenheath managed to score a well deserved goal when they
pushed forward and produced a low shot which Will Bales
couldn't quite manage to keep hold of in the tricky
conditions and it agonisingly rolled into the back
of the net to give the Lakenheath players a lift and some
hope of pulling things around. Late in the second quarter,
Jake Vincent managed to wriggle free of his tight marker to
slot another excellent goal in the back of the Lakenheath
net to make the score 4-1 to Brandon at half time. After
the break, Lakenheath came back strong but Brandon's defence
was tough to break down.
Jake Vincent caught Lakenheath
knapping twice more with 2 cool finishes and put the
game beyond the away team. Brandon played some very
mature football and demonstrated how passing the ball around
can create many clear cut chances. In the last 10
minutes Brandon had several excellent chances saved by an
exceptional Lakenheath goalkeeper - he was Lakenheath's man
of the match and Callum Horn was voted man of the match by
Lakenheath - Well Done guys that was the best football I
have seen you play!

Brandon Lads 17 Garboldisham 0
Another sunny day in Brandon saw
the U8's continue their excellent unbeaten run with a 17 - 0
victory against a weakened Garboldisham team. Brandon got
off to a flying start with Jake Vincent slotting home 3
excellent goals in the first 10 minutes. In the next 10
Callum Horn scored a hat-trick, Ben Long blasted another
excellent goal and Jake Vincent added another to his tally
to take the score to 8 - 0 at half time.
After the break and after a
re-shuffle Brandon continued to press forward with Will
Bales and Cameron Francis both scoring 2 goals and Alexander
Turner and Ben Long also coming close.
In the last 10 minutes Brandon
were superb and Jake Vincent was on fire again blasting
another 4 past the excellent Garboldisham keeper. Will Bales
managed to stay on his feet to get his hat trick after
a rebound off the Garboldisham crossbar - Final Score
Brandon 17 - Garboldisham 0 - Man of the Match was awarded
by Garboldisham to Callum Horne for a captains display.

Brandon Lads 6 New Buckenham 2
Brandon started the game well and although it was very
tight initially Jake Vincent managed to sneak home two well
taken goals to take the pressure off the un-beaten U8
Brandon team. After 10 minutes Brandon were awarded a free
kick on the edge of the New Buckenham box, up steps Ben Long
(dead ball specialist) and curls the ball into the top
left hand corner like David Beckham (brilliant!).
New Buckenham then pressed Brandon hard and were rewarded with
a goal from a long throw in that bounced off the head of
the Brandon keeper and into the back of the net to make it 3 - 1
at half time. Cameron Francis and Jack Slater were
unlucky not to score but the New Buckenham defence was holding
firm. After the break Callum Horn made some excellent runs up
the left flank and scored two cracking individual goals. Will
Bales in the Brandon goal made two really good saves to
keep Brandon in front and the score at 5 - 1 to the home team.
Ben Long was having an absolutely superb match and dealt with
everything at the back with total confidence and assurance -
well done Ben. New Buckenham then scored a fantastic
goal from a move down the right to blast the ball into the top
of the net and give the Brandon goalkeeper no chance of saving
it. Jake Vincent rounded off an excellent individual and team
performance to make the score Brandon 6 - New Buckenham 2 -
Well Done Guys Superb display of passing football!!
The game was played in a great atmosphere and both teams and
supporters enjoyed it thoroughly.

Brandon Lads 17 Dereham Wanderers Yellows 0
Brandon were totally focused
right from the start of the match and were 1-0 up within 60
seconds of the kick off (Jake Vincent). Jake added another 3
goals in quick succession to take his tally to 4 within 8
minutes. Ben Long added to Jake's 4 goals with a stonking
long range shot into the roof of the net to take the score
to 5-0 in the first ten minutes. After
a slight re-shuffle Dereham came back at Brandon and kept
the scoring to a minimum with just the addition of 2 more
goals before half time, one from Alexander Turner with a
determined run from defence and another from Jack Slater
into the corner, this took Brandon to 7-0 at half time.
After the break Brandon
started to play the ball around beautifully and added
another 6 goals with Cameron Francis bagging 4 and Jake
Vincent, now back on, netting another 2. In
the last ten minutes Brandon's goal keeper, Will Bales was
promoted to centre forward and was sent clear of the
Dereham defence by a beautiful ball from Jake Vincent only
to trip and miss a clear cut chance! Jake added another
3 goals before Will Bales was duly rewarded with a penalty
after being shoved from behind to end up in another heap
this time 10 yards from goal. Will stepped up to smash an
excellent left footed penalty passed the Dereham keeper.
Sunday 21 Sept 2008
Morley 1 Brandon Lads 2
The game got off to a very tight
start with both teams playing some excellent passing
football in the first 10 minutes. Jack Slater and Jake
Vincent were both denied by the excellent Morley keeper with
Ben Long and Callum Horn keeping things tight at the back.
Brandon made a breakthrough just
before half time with a nicely hit shot from Cameron Francis
(on for Jack Slater) that was guided over the line by
Jake Vincent (Cameron Francis's goal). Callum Horn now
partnered with Alexander Turner looked solid at the
back with Will Bales making some excellent saves to keep
Brandon just in front at the half time break. Just
after half time Jack Slater now back on, made a clean break
for goal to fire a rocket past the Morley keeper
and put Brandon 2-0 ahead. In
the last 10 minutes Morley pulled back a goal from the
penalty spot and continued to press Brandon hard. Brandon
continued to attack and were very unlucky to have several
chances either rebound off the post, saved by the keeper or
blasted wide before the final whistle was blown. Callum
Horn was named Man of the Match by Morley for his
tireless defending and timely tackles to keep Brandon ahead
in the game - well done a superb "gritty"
performance!

Brandon Lads 18 Bulldogs 1
Brandon welcomed Thetford
Bulldogs on a glorious sunny Sunday morning with the pitch in
beautiful condition. Thetford
kicked off but within 60 seconds Jake Vincent had broken
through to open the scoring with the outside of his right
boot. Jake added another before Jack Slater finished off a
lovely passing move to put Brandon 3 up in the first 5
minutes. Before 10 minutes were up Brandon were 7-0 up with
Jake Vincent adding another 3 and Jack Slater another 1.
After 15 minutes Jack Slater
added 2 more well worked goals and Cameron Francis
settled in to fire the ball past the Bulldogs keeper, by
half time it was 10 - 0 to Brandon. After
half time Brandon had a slight re-shuffle bringing Will
Bales out of the Brandon goal for Alexander Turner. Cameron
Francis composed himself again to slot the ball home for his
second of the game. Jake Vincent, back on after a breather,
powered home 2 more goals to take his personal tally to
7. Will Bales broke through the Thetford defence to
power home a left foot pile-driver. A rare goalkeeping
blunder allowed Thetford to score a well deserved
consolation goal with a great strike from just outside
of the Brandon penalty area. In the last 10 minutes Ben Long
broke forward to open his league account with Brandon with
an excellent strike and Callum Horne (captain) was allowed a
rare opportunity to go forward and was rewarded with a good
strike to make the score 17 - 1. Cameron
Francis rounded off an excellent performance by Brandon to
score and the match finished 18 - 1 to Brandon Lads U8's.
Man of the Match Brandon
(marked by Thetford) - Jake Vincent

Mundford 1 Brandon Lads 9 (Friendly)
Mundford welcomed Brandon U8's
on a sunny Thursday evening. The
match kicked off and within a minute Brandon were ahead
with a clinical strike by Jake Vincent. This settled them
quickly to allow Jake to score another and make the score
0-2 in the first ten minutes. Jake
had a hat-trick within 15 minutes and Cameron Francis
opened his account with a nice right footed strike to put
Brandon 4-0 up at half time. After
the break Brandon conceded a penalty that was beautifully
struck into the top corner by Jude Blakemore to give
Mundford a glimmer of hope. Will Bales in the Brandon goal
made some excellent saves and looked consistently solid
throughout the match. This
only spurred Brandon on to score another 5 goals in
the last ten minutes (Jake Vincent all 5) and round off a
superb victory for the ever improving Brandon Lads U8's
team. Callum Horne
played another excellent game and is improving with
every match. Alexander Turner and Jack Slater rotated
their defensive duties and kept things nice and tight at
the back. Cameron Francis and Jake Vincent were superb up
front with some excellent strikes - well done!
