Sunday 29th April 2007 Bury Town A 0 Brandon Lads 3
Brandon’s last game of the season was
a cracker. Brandon pushed forward from the start taking
the game to Bury. Good attacking play was the order of
the day with Allen, Power, Rampley and Kostecki linking
up well. Maddix came on to help add some bite to the
attack. There was plenty of pressure on Bury’s goal, but
it took until 5 minutes before halftime and a penalty
award for Rampley to put Brandon ahead. The second half
carried on from where the first half had finished and
again Brandon were straight into attack mode. Rampley
made it 2-0, within a minute of the restart, slotting
home after an impressive run, this settled Brandon
down. The rest of the half was an open contest, goals
could have come at either end. As the half went on
Hills, Scott and Norton made sure Bury didn’t get back
into the game. Then with 5 minutes to go, Brandon got a
third from a defensive error from Bury, giving Kostecki
the chance the hammer home from close range. The game
just wound down the clock from this time, with neither
team creating any real chances.

This was
Brandon's last home game this season and they wanted
to finish with a good display. From the Kick off it
was clear this would not be a one sided affair, as
both teams needed points to avoid relegation.
The
first half was tough going for Brandon and at times
they were lucky mot to have gone behind. Yet more
solid performances from Norton, Hills, and Scott in
defence. Slaughter was doing an excellent job in the
centre of the Field to stop Needham's midfield
establishing the advantage. Rampley, Power and
Kostecki chased the ball down and created chances at
the other end, but at halftime it was 0-0. At the
start of the second half Brandon brought on
Chappell, Kemp and Allen to give them some forward
momentum. This had the desired effect and Brandon
were now pushing Needham back and creating chances.
With about 10 minutes to go Rampley through the
Needham Defensive line, only to be brought down
heavily by the keeper. Allen took the penalty and
placed low into the corner, giving Brandon the lead.
As the game came to an end Brandon piled on the
pressure and Chappell got a well taken second with
about 2 minutes left. Well done for another clean
sheet for the defence.
Sunday
22nd April 2007 Dereham Wanderers 2 Brandon Lads 4
Brandon were down to the bare bones in their final
game of the season.
The seven lads had to play the whole game with
Jordan Kemp deputising in goal
Brandon were slow to start however the game was
always under control, in the first half it was
really one way traffic, good chances came through
Jacob Bogle and Calum Maddix but both were unlucky.
The impressive Kane Philpott was even more unlucky
when he let lose with a thunderous shot which struck
the bar. Jacob Bogle put Brandon ahead with a good
finish which took the pressure off. Second half was
a similar story Jordan Kemp came out of goal and
posed an immediate threat up front. He and Sam
Chappell were neat up front and along with the two
in midfield players posed a real threat to Dereham,
but it was Dereham that got an equaliser through a
breakaway goal. This knocked Brandon out of their
stride and Dereham came into the game. Joseph Smith
and Adam Vincent had to be at their best at the back
to get Brandon through a really sticky patch. Callum
Maddix was next to score with a brilliantly taken
free kick which left the Dereham Goalkeeper no
chance and when Jordan Kemp powered his way through
and finished well Brandon had the game won. Dereham
did get their second but Sam Chappell hit one from
the edge of the area to restore their two goal lead.

Sunday 22nd April 2007 Stow Town A 0 Brandon lads 1
From start to finish this was a very
competitive game, with Stowmarket having a height
advantage Brandon had to keep the ball down and play to
feet. Brandon played uphill and into the sun first half.
This meant they had to dig in hard and the defence was
stretched at times. Scott and Hills snuffed out all the
Stowmarket attacks, limiting them to shots from outside
the box. With Norton in goal, having another great game,
making his saves look comfortable. In the centre of
midfield Slaughter broke up play well. He laid the ball
off for Rampley and Power on the wings to run at the
Stowmarket defence, both having chances saved. Kostecki
was making his presence felt and was a constant worry
for the Stowmarket defence. Halftime Stowmarket 0
Brandon 0. From the start of the second half Brandon
were more positive. Taking the game to Stowmarket,
pushing them back. Kostecki, Rampley and Power were
running freely knowing that their defence was dealing
with any Stowmarket attacks, chances came for them, but
they could get the ball in the net. Midway through the
second half, the effects of the heat and the pace of the
game meant spaces were opening up and the game could
have gone either way. With 10 minutes to go Allen came
on, adding fresh legs to the attack. With his first
touch from a cross from Rampley he hit the side netting.
Again Rampley supplied the ball to Allen just inside the
Stowmarket half, Allen ran and shot into the top corner
from just outside the area. Power had a chance to make
2-0 late on, but the keeper managed to deny him. The
goal topped off an excellent team performance and the
win was owed to the excellent goal keeping and
defensive play, that kept the teams first clean sheet
this season.

Brandon had a really good day today ,after a poor
run of defeats they really went to town on their
oppositions. From the start they totally controlled
the game however it looked like it would be the same
old story missing a number of chances. The Northwold
goalkeeper should have a mention saving chance after
chance and with the wind kicking at the Brandon
goal, this the only threat to Jack Field in goal.
Brandon's passing was a joy the impressive Luke
Sheppard and Jacob Bogle linking well with Sam
Chappell and Jordan Kemp up front. Kane Philpot and
Adam Vincent had little to do but joined in with the
passing play. The outcome of the game was never in
doubt however Brandon's passing play and
unselfishness was really impressive, they always
stuck to the task and worked tirelessly for each
other.
Jordan Kemp scored six times, a MOM performance as
much for his teamwork as for the goals he scored.
Sam Chappell scored 4, Luke Sheppard got 3,Adam
Vincent, Jacob Bogle and Joseph Smith each got 2 and
Kane Phillpot completed the scoring.

25th March 2007 Hadleigh Utd 3 Brandon lads 2
This was a
game of 2 contrasting half’s for Brandon. In the first
half, Brandon seemed to struggle to get going and
Hadleigh quickly took advantage of Brandon’s inability
to clear their own lines. Brandon tried to push forward
and got an equaliser, from a good run and shot from
Rampley. This revival was short lived and Hadleigh came
back, putting pressure on the Brandon goal and by half
time the score line was 3-1 to Hadleigh. Norton made
some brave saves to keep the score line this close. At
halftime Brandon re-arranged their player’s positions
and came out for the second half a different team.
Brandon seemed to get the upper hand and were really
taking the game to Hadleigh now. Some good link up play
between the attacking players created several chances,
that were either blocked, saved, hit the post, the bar
anything except go in the net. Power who had been
playing some great football on the left eventually got
Brandon’s second, from a Rampley cross. In the last
minutes it was all Brandon pressure, but somehow the
ball just would not go in. A good strong performance
from the whole team, to the end of the game. Especially
as every player had to play the whole game, because
Brandon had no subs to call on.
Sunday
25th March 2007 New Buckenham 3 Brandon lads 2
I still don't believe this game was lost Brandon had
much of the ball and more chances but failed to turn
this into a positive result. Maybe it was the
efforts of the previous day or maybe just bad luck.
Brandon had the early chances, played the better
football but with vital players short in defence
always look vulnerable on the break. It was from one
of these breaks that Buckenham scored ,their striker
was left unmarked to finish ,chipping the keeper
well. Brandon again pushed their opposition back
Maddix and Bogle fighting for everything, their were
unable to find the fluencies' of the previous day
but battled hard against a very physical Buckenham
team, Bogle being the victim of some very strong
tackles.
Chances came for Kemp ,Maddix ,Chappell and Bogle
put they could not get the breakthrough. Buckenham
again broke and scored just before halftime
Second half Brandon again switch on the pressure and
scored early Adam Vincent topping a two great
performances with and goal from some distance.
Brandon were really firing now and should have got
back into the game Jordan Kemp with the best of the
chances. The game swung again through a
controversial penalty which Jack Field saved but the
ball fell again kindly to the Buckenham striker.
Brandon still had plenty of time and got back into
the game from a corner, Chappell heading a fine goal
on the near post.
The last 15 minutes was all Brandon Callum Maddix
hitting two brilliant free kick which the Buckenham
goalkeeper was equally brilliant in saving, Jordan
Kemp having good chances to score and the impressive
Jacob Bogle going close but as with the previous day
Brandon failed to pick up the points they deserved.

Saturday 24th March 2007 Wymondham Serpents 3 Brandon

Brandon travelled to Wymondham on a windy Saturday
morning with little confidence after a poor showing
the previous week. They started brightly making all
the early running ,their passing was good and
through Callum Maddix Jacob Bogle and Harry Rampley
started to create good chances, Sam Chappell glancing
a header just wide and Harry Rampley hitting the
post .Brandon limited Silfield to few chance in the
first half Adam Vincent and Luke Sheppard were
really impressive in defence with Jack Field ever
improving in goal. The impressive Rampley opened the
scoring with an impressive finish midway through the
half and with a bit more luck the game could have
been out of sight before half time. Second half had
much fewer chances, injuries to Jacob Bogle and Adam
Vincent were costly to Brandon but they held out
well playing controlled football frustrating
Wymondham. Wymondham drew level late on from a
corner ,Jack Field being prevented from claiming the
ball Wymondham putting in the rebound. Brandon tired
from this point and were under pressure for the
final minutes Wymondham scoring to late goals This
was probably Brandon best performance of the season
and they really deserved something out of the game

Sunday
18th March 2007 Brandon Lads 0 Bramford 6
This game
was as much a battle against the wind, as it was each
other for both teams. Bramford, always a good passing
team posed problems for Brandon, but the defence of
Scott, Jordan and Slaughter dealt well with the threat.
There was some good effort from Brandon, the team worked
hard for each other. Norton in goal was again playing
well, making good saves. The midfield of Rampley, Power
and Allen worked hard to support their defenders and
create opportunities. Kostecki tried to create chances
and came close, but the Bramford keeper made a fine
save. With the score at 0-0, Allen had to come off half
way through the first half, due to a bleeding injury.
This appeared to disrupt the Brandon shape, which
Bramford took advantage of and by halftime Brandon had
conceded 3 goals.
The
second half was a more competitive event, with Brandon
reshuffling the team, Hills moving up to midfield
alongside Allen who had returned to the centre, both
worked hard to win the ball and set up play. Power and
Rampley’s running of the wings was causing problems and
Rampley hit the upright from the edge of the area. Scott
was tackling well and Slaughter worked hard, but with
Brandon trying to take the game to Bramford, there were
gaps at the back. Bramford took advantage of these and
it could have been more but for Norton’s continued fine
form in goal, making several crucial saves.

11th March 2007 Bury Town B 6 Brandon Lads 0
Brandon were
away to a Bury Town B side sitting at the top of the
league. It was a big test and Brandon rose to the
occasion well. They were working hard all over the park
trying to compete with a strong Bury team that passed
the ball around well. Bury quickly found a way through
the Brandon defence, scoring their first goal from close
range. Hills and Scott were in defence with Slaughter in
the holding midfield role, they were all very busy
trying to clear their lines and Norton in goal was
outstanding with numerous good saves. The midfield of
Rampley, Allen, Power and Kostecki worked hard but found
a lot of their efforts being defensive ones. Before
halftime Bury added two more goals. In the second half
Brandon tried to take the game to Bury, but this just
left more spaces for Bury to attack, which they took
advantage of, for their forth. The closest Brandon came
to scoring, was when Rampley shot across the goal
beating the keeper only to see his shot bounce off the
far post across the face of the goal again. Despite some
good hard work from Brandon, particularly Scott, Hills
and more excellent saves from Norton, Bury added another
two late goals to before the game finished. The result
speaks for itself, but I am pleased with the effort put
in by the team and the way they played up to the final
whistle.
Sunday
11th March 2007 Swaffham 3 Brandon Lads 1
Brandon were beaten in this South Norfolk League
fixture but should have come away from the game with
so much more. This was their best performance for
some time and can count themselves very unlucky
First half started well for Brandon competing for
everything, the defence of Sheppard, Chappell and
Vincent limited Swaffham to little time on the ball
and gave them no space to play. Maddix and Bogle
played nicely in the midfield and the impressive
Kemp was a constant threat up front. Some of the
passing movements were good and Brandon created a
string of good chances, Kemp usually on the end of
them. The Swaffham goalkeeper was in fine form
saving most of the chances.
It was against the run of play that Swaffham took
the lead ,the attacked lifting the ball over Field
in goal. Brandon pushed hard and got a deserved
equaliser through Kemp.
The second half was very competitive ,both sides
creating chances Maddix had a thunderous shot which
the keeper saved well, Kemp then controlled and
missed narrowly from the rebound. The Brandon side
were playing with a lot of determination ,usually
its the Swaffham side that compete the best but
through Chappell who took a heavy blow in the face
from the ball, Smith who chased everything and
Sheppard playing a really mature game Brandon
managed to stay on top. More chances came ,Bogle
hitting the side netting and Kemp again was thwarted
by the keeper.
Swaffham again took the lead midway through the half
and Brandon were unlucky to concede a penalty making
the score 3 .1.Brandon still had the chance to get
into the game but it wasn't to be their day.

4th March 2007 Brandon lads 2 Watton Wanderers 3
Brandon will have to learn quickly that playing the
last 10 minutes of each half will not win them many
games. They started okay buy soon let Watton take
the initiative, Watton were always first to the ball
made stronger tackles and always put Brandon under
pressure. They took a deserved lead when a Watton
shot was saved but another unmarked Watton player
managed to poke the ball home .Brandon soon found
themselves two down through more slack marking. It
was the usual story Brandon give a couple away and
then start playing Callum Maddix lead the way
firstly hitting the post from a free kick then
making a brilliant pass which found Harry Rampley,
who finished well.
Half time came and Brandon again decided to go to
sleep, Watton made a couple of chances for
themselves but found Jack Field on top form in goal.
He could do nothing about Watton's third ,no
backtracking by midfield put too much pressure on
the defence and Watton scored Harry Rampley was
found unmarked from some good play from Isaac Allen
on the right and he finished off to score
In the last ten minutes Brandon created more chances
than in the previous fifty but failed to capitalise
on any of these and finished losing the game

25th February 2007 Brandon lads 3 Needham Mkt 3
The first
half saw a lot of pressure being put on the Brandon back
line. Norton was again in good form in goal, making
several good saves to keep Brandon in the game. Scott,
Hills and Chappell were having to make endless tackles
as the midfield seemed to be unable to keep hold of the
ball and Needham were cutting through Brandon at will.
Needham scored early on and continued to pile on the
pressure. There were a few glimmers of hope with Rampley,
Power and Maddix breaking several times, bringing saves
from the Needham keeper. One shot by Rampley appeared to
be going into the top corner, only to skim the bar and
go out. As the half drew to a close Needham got a second
and appeared in control up to halftime. Brandon came out
for the second half and looked like a different team.
Slaughter was introduced and went straight about his
work in the centre closing down and winning the ball for
Brandon. It was on this platform that Brandon started
their revival. The whole team got a lift and suddenly
Brandon were dictating the game. Rampley was now running
at the opposition at will and saw some great shots saved
or drift just wide. Allen was now on the right and
Kostecki up front, the shape seemed to suite Brandon and
Allen ran down the right and placed a shot across the
keeper for Brandon's first. Needham soon got a third
though against the run of play. Kostecki put a ball into
the box, with Rampley putting pressure on the defence,
Needham turned the ball into their own net. With 2
minutes to go, Allen got the ball just outside the box
and again put the ball across the keeper’s body for his
second. Brandon spent the last 2 minutes in or around
the Needham box, but could not get the winner.
Sunday
18th February 2007 Dereham Whites 7 Brandon Lads 2
This was Brandon's first game for four weeks which
showed in the start they made. They lacked commitment
from the start allowing Dereham far too much time
and possession Jack Field was outstanding making
save after save to keep Dereham out, even Jack could
do nothing about Dereham's first after Brandon
failed to clear their lines. This fired Brandon into
action Luke Sheppard seeming to spark Brandon with a
period of determined tackling. Callum Maddix had a
chance before a one two between Rampley and Kemp
ended with Kemp equalising with a good finish
Dereham's second came at the end of a spell of
Brandon pressure and looked as if it was handled by
the attacker before he finished with a good shot
Brandon seemed to lose heart at this point and three
more Dereham goals went in before half time ,the
best a free kick from some way out which Jack Field
could do nothing about.
Second half Brandon were well in the match Maddix
had a shot go close and Rampley had a free kick
saved by the Dereham keeper. With the game stretched
Brandon conceded another. Brandon had more chances
and when Harry Rampley was put through he had his
shot saved by the keeper, it broke lose and Sam
Chappell was on the spot to finish it off.
Dereham made it 7 2 late on ,maybe a harsh score
line but Dereham deserved winners

11th February 2007 Brandon Lads 2 St. Johns 1
The game got
underway with some good open play from both teams. On
more than one occasion in the first half, Brandon were
kept in the game by great saves from Norton in goal, and
tenacious defending from Scott, Sheppard and Chappell.
As the half wore on gaps started to open for both teams.
Allen worked hard in the centre to break up the
oppositions’ play. Each team created chances that could
have been converted, Brandon’s chances being created by
some good link up play between Rampley, Maddix, Kostecki
and Power, but no one managed to score and at halftime
it was 0-0. As the second half got underway Philpot came
on up front and put pressure on the St Johns defence.
Scott and Chappell in defence worked hard and Norton
again made some great saves. Though St Johns broke the
deadlock midway through the half, when one of their
players broke behind the defence and slotted the ball
home. Allen came back on in the centre of the park,
adding his presence released Maddix to a more attacking
role. Which almost instantly reaped its reward. As
Maddix set Rampley on his way to Brandon’s first goal,
which was struck from outside the box and the bounce was
misjudged by the keeper. Brandon were spurred on by this
and looked to take control of the game. As the half wore
on, Chappell got hold of the ball in defence and brought
it forward, slotting a pass through to Rampley, who
after a one-two with Kostecki, slotted home from inside
the box.
Sunday
21st January 2007 Needham Mkt 2 Brandon Lads 2
The
match started with both sides looking to play attacking
football. Brandon’s back line of Jordan Scott and Isaac
Allen snuffed out any Needham chances, with Lewis Norton
looking assured in goal. It was an end to end game. Jack
Slaughter was doing a fine man to man marking job on the
Needham danger man. There was plenty of running from
Harry Rampley, Charlie Power and Adam Kostecki, but
shots seemed limited to longer-range efforts early on.
With no substitutes available, Brandon had to reshuffle
the team they had. Jack moved to defence, Adam into
attack and Isaac into the central midfield role. This
opened up the play, giving Brandon a much better shape.
There were some good combinations between the four
attacking players, one resulted in Harry running down
the left wing and supplying a pinpoint cross from the
corner, for Adam to head home. A few minutes later, a
Needham shot from outside the box, clipped the underside
of the bar on its way in, leaving Lewis with no chance.
About 5 minutes after the restart, Harry hit the bar,
after a weaving run on the wing. Jordan and Jack were
having to work harder, but stuck to their task well. The
lack of substitutes began to take its toll on the
Brandon players. As the half wore on, Needham got a
penalty, after one of their players went down in the
box. The Ball squeezed under Lewis’ body. Then Adam was
floored in a challenge with the Needham keeper, which
left Brandon with six players. This seemed to spur
Brandon on, Isaac worked hard in the centre of the park
breaking up the Needham play and creating chances. Adam
came back on about 10 minutes later and was straight in
the action. His shot was parried to the edge of the box
by the Needham keeper where Isaac got the ball and side
stepped a defender to place the ball in the bottom
corner. This was a game that Brandon can be very pleased
with. They were away from home, on a very, very heavy
pitch with no substitutes. For a quarter of the game
they were a player short, but they fought hard, to dig
out a result.

Brandon started the game under strength for this
tough league fixture.
With the wind blowing hard Brandon knew they were in
for a difficult game against league leaders Bulldogs
,they battle hard for every challenge and
matched the Thetford side well. The conditions
prevented both sides playing flowing football and
the game turned into a rugged midfield battle.
Thetford were the first to score with a good finish
from their striker and when they lobbed a ball into
the box their striker scored a great second. Brandon
stuck to the task well and began to force openings
themselves Jordan Kemp going close before Callum
Maddix long range shot, assisted by the wind went in
to cut Thetford lead. Brandon were on top for the
rest of the half but were unable to get the
equaliser and but for a fine tackle from Chappell
they would have conceded again.
Second half was much the same as the first ,the wind
preventing good football but both teams scrapped for
everything ,Brandon going close through Joseph Smith
and Adam Vincent. Thetford scored three unanswered
goals though two down to defensive errors before
Jordan Kemp scored a good goal ,all be it a
consolation. The 5-2 score line was a little harsh
on Brandon but they played a quality team who do the
game of football proud with the attitude and
sportsmanship.

Brandon lost this hard fought game narrowly though
both teams can take a lot out of the game. For
Brandon's part it had been a difficult weekend some

Brandon first half performance was great ,they
bossed the play and controlled the game throughout
and it was somewhat surprising the half time score

richly deserved through Harry Rampley and Jordan

hit Brandon twice late in the half to level the
scores.
Brandon found it hard to get into the game in the
second ,Thetford played really well and through the
pace of the front players never let Brandon settle.
When Brandon finally fought there way into the game
they trailed 4 2.they traded goal for goal from this
point Harry Rampley completing a quality hat trick
and with a bit more luck both front players could

slowly started to influence the game though their pace
up front and hard work in midfield. Chances began to
come for Brandon and after a good run and superb shot
they took the lead through Jacob Bogle
.Moreton responded positively and pull the score level.
Brandon again looked for the lead Jordan Kemp providing
it with a good finish to make it 2 - 1. Moreton again
equalised
when Brandon’s concentration lapsed. It was too tight to
call, it looked as if Brandon would take the victory in
normal time when Isaac Allen scored a great header from
a late corner however Moreton
equalised
with the last kick of the game through an unlucky
deflection off a Brandon player. Extra time began badly
for Brandon when Moreton took the lead, Brandon failing
to clear the ball on three occasions. Brandon
equalised
immediately through Jordan Kemp. It looked as if
penalties would decide the tie however Jordan Kemp had
other ideas, Brandon broke when Jacob Bogle passed the
ball and after a run Jordan Kemp completed his hat trick
and a place in the next round.

The game
started with both teams playing some good passing
football, there were early chances at both ends. Jack
Field was in goal and made some good early saves that
seemed to give the team confidence to go forward,
knowing also that Sean and Jordan in defence looked in
fine form. The were some good runs from Harry along the
right wing and Charlie power on the left, worrying the
Stowmarket defenders. With Lewis back in the holding
midfield role, Isaac looked comfortable at the front
causing the Stowmarket keeper to make some good saves.
As the half went on Stow pushed forward in numbers and
made this advantage count when they got four against two
in the Brandon area. Jack Slaughter came on to up the
tempo for Brandon with his strong running. Although
they were 1-0 down at halftime Brandon were not out of
the game. As the half started again there were chances
for Harry and Isaac, from some good link up play from
Adam. Though the ball, just would not go in the goal for
Brandon and there was also plenty of action at the other
end for Jack in goal, who made a string of crucial saves
to keep Brandon’s hopes alive. Brandon were made to pay
for the inability to convert their chances, when
Stowmarket grabbed a second halfway through the second
half. Brandon tried to push numbers forward to get back
into the game with Sean joining the attack, this left
Jordan alone in defence, which he did well. With some
good spells of possession Brandon looked to control the
game with out really creating any clear cut chances and
again got caught toward the end by a break.
Sunday 19th
November 2006 Watton Wanderers 2 Brandon Lads 2
Brandon Lost 4 - 2 on penalties
Brandon started slowly but looked solid at the back
,an early chance came for Jordan Kemp who thought he
had scored but for the referee who waved play on.
Jacob Bogle had a long shot which went just wide.
Watton looked a dangerous team, they defended well
and always looked good going forward, they had
chances in the first half but Brandon's defence were
well up to anything they had thrown at them, on the
one occasion the defence failed to deal with the
threat Jack Field was their to make an athletic
driving save. Brandon played some good football even
though in the first half they never looked at their
best. Harry Rampley made some good runs and crossed
well, Callum Maddix was always a threat and Jordan
Kemp was unlucky in front of goal. Just on half time
Watton scored from a good break. The second half saw
Brandon again start slowly, the defence failed to
clear a through ball and Watton went two up. Brandon
showed their fighting spirit and played their best
football at this point, Harry Rampley putting a
peach of a cross to Jordan Kemp, Jordan was just
unable to finish.
Harry Rampley again found space on the edge of the
box where he received the ball, he took the ball
closer and finished coolly. Brandon were really on a
high now, the ball was being passed better and they
were challenging for everything. This pressure was
soon turned into a goal ,Jordan Kemp finishing after
good team work from Callum, Harry and Adam Vincent.
Brandon were now pushing for a winner Callum Maddix
had a glorious opportunity but he hit the post, Jack
Field saved well pushing a good shot onto the
crossbar and Jacob Bogle made the tackle of the game
denying a Watton player a clear goal scoring chance.
Unfortunately for Brandon full time came, Brandon
losing 4 2 on penalties Sam Chappell and Reece

save two of the Watton penalties.

Kemp's and Calum Maddix's running causing numerous
problems for Hadleigh. A well taken equaliser for
Hadleigh from outside the box shook Brandon, in a
period were it seemed the home team were on
comfortable. Adam Kostecki played a key role up
front, taking the game to Hadleigh, despite
this, towards the end of the first half Hadleigh
again caught Brandon napping when the defence failed
to clear the ball. Resulting in a close range goal
and Hadleigh taking the lead. In the second half
Brandon pushed forward and Hadleigh had their keeper
to thank for saves from Jordan Kemp, Calum Maddix,
Harry Rampley and Isaac Allen. With shots skimming
the upright twice with the keeper beaten, but
Brandon just couldn't get any luck or an equaliser.
Lewis Norton in his first full return from injury in
midfield was superb and back to his best form.
Commanding the centre of the park with authority.
Brandon have missed this and it was a welcome sight.
Tireless work from Charlie Power, Kane Philpot and
Jack Slaughter helped what was an excellent team
display, despite the result.
Sunday 12th November 2006 Brandon Lads 8 New Buckenham 1
Report written by player Sam Chappell
My name is Sam Chappell and I play for Brandon Lads
under 10's,we played New Buckenham on a sunny Sunday
morning. We are going quite well at the moment and
started the game well. I didn't start the game but
hoped I would be going on quickly. We had a few
chances early Callum Maddix hitting a good shot and
Jacob Bogle went really close. My friend Jordan Kemp
was looking good up front for us and it was he that
got us off the mark with a run and finish. Goals
came pretty quickly after that Callum Maddix scored
two really good goals, one was a brilliant shot from
the edge of the box. Jordan Kemp completed his
hat-trick in the first half with two well taken
goals and my mate Harry Rampley hit a long shot
which wrong footed the Buckenham goalkeeper.
Second half started okay Jack Field had little to do
but the always ready when we needed him, our defence
were playing well Adam Vincent and Reece Kennedy
looking really good and Joseph Smith was quick in
the tackle, probably playing his best game yet.Luke
Sheppard and Jacob Bogle played well in midfield
,Luke hitting some good long shots which went close.
We still pushed Buckenham back and I scored two
goals the first a tap in from a good cross and a
second after a short corner, Jordan Kemp crossed the
ball and I headed it into the net. We didn't score
anymore ,Adam Vincent went close a couple of times
but never got his first goal, the New Buckenham
goalkeeper played well and made some great saves and
really kept the score down. New Buckenham
played better in the second half and made some good
chances, it was from one of these that they scored,
their best player getting a deserved goal. Our
keeper got injured, Jack went in for a ball and got
caught on the knee, Jordan Kemp went in goal and did
a good job.

Sunday 5th
November 2006 Brandon Lads 1 Wymondham Dragons 2
Brandon started the match slowly, they were second
to the early challenges against a strong Silfield
side. Silfield seemed to be running the game, their
midfield and attack particularly impressive .Callum
Maddix had an early chance which he hit early just
going wide.
Silfiled opened the scoring however Brandon had two
opportunities to clear the ball before it crossed
the line. Further disappointment came a few minutes
later when the defence failed to pick up the
Silfield player who finished brilliantly on the
volley. Brandon to their credit were working very
hard but were missing the usual spark in their play,
captain Jacob Bogle leading the fight in midfield.
They continued to work hard in the first half and
slowly began creating chances, their play towards
the end of the half deserve a goal but despite
Jordan Kemps best efforts. Second half began and
from the outset, Brandon came out from the start and
we saw a different side the team. Pace, strength and
determination replacing the lacklustre performance
of the first half. Reece Kennedy came on for his
first start to impress in defence ,Adam Vincent was
at his best in defence and Luke Sheppard was playing
well in front of them and on more than one occasion
set up good attacking opportunities. Brandon were in
full flow by now creating chance after chance
,always first to the ball. Callum Maddix terrified
the Silfield defence with his runs, Jordan Kemp
conbined with Callum to create chance for each
other, but for the Silfield keeper these would have
produced goals. Brandon did eventually score through
Jordan Kemp when good play released the striker who
finish well, leaving the keeper no chance. Sam
Chappell moved into midfield and started to play the
ball about well combining well with the strikers on
a number of occasions. Callum had a long shot saved
well by the goalkeeper and Jordan Kemp was unlucky
again when he combined with Calum again and the
keeper saved well. Silfield did break Brandon down
from the resulting corner but Jack Field narrowed
the angle well to save Brandon. The goal Brandon
deserved never came but Brandon should be very proud
of their performance, they have gone from a mid table
side to one that is competing with all the top sides
in the league, every boy his worth his place, all put
100% every week and all have become quality players
in their respective positions.

Sunday 29th
Oct; Brandon Lads 0 Bury Town A 2
The game started off with both sides playing an open game,
the teams were evenly matched. There was some excellent
defensive play from Jordan Scott and Sean Hills, with
them turning defence into attacking play on several
occasions. The midfield looked assured with Isaac Allen
in the centre winning the ball and Harry Rampley and
Charlie Power on the wings causing all sorts of problems
for the Bury defence, through their skillful play. Adam
Kostecki link up play and holding up of the ball at the
front was cool and made several chances for the wide
players. Charlie put in a captains performance. Lewis
Norton got his first full League start in goal and was
making some great saves, commanding his area
magnificently. This gave his defenders more confidence.
Kane Philpot came on for his first full start up front
and looked at home straight away, with intelligent runs
off the ball pulling the Bury defence out of position
and creating opportunities. Jack Slaughter and Calum
Maddix joined the game with great effect, Calum making
some strong attacking runs and Jack’s tackling was as
reliable as ever. Just before halftime Brandon conceded
a
free kick
on the edge of their area, the wall failed to get in
position quickly enough, allowing Bury to convert the
free kick into a goal. In the second half it seemed to
be a familiar story to other games this season. Brandon
took the game to Bury and came close on several
occasions, through good link up play from Harry, Charlie
and Calum. It was only some stout defending and brave
goal keeping from Bury that kept them ahead. As the
minutes slipped away Brandon threw extra numbers forward
searching for the
equaliser
and with Lewis having to retire hurt, due to an injury
sustained in a brave save at the feet of a Bury striker.
Brandon’s defence got more stretched as Isaac moved into
goal. He too made some good saves, but could not stop
Bury scoring their second, just before the final
whistle. When he found himself alone against three Bury
Strikers. The score lines this season do not do the
effort and quality of play from the team justice this
year. I believe it will only be a matter of time before
the results start going Brandon’s way.
Sunday 29th
Oct; Brandon Lads 3 Swaffham 2
Brandon started this game confident after some fine
performances this season, they knew they would have
to be at their best to beat decent opposition.
Brandon began the slowly, their fine passing of the
previous weeks wasn't in evidence and they had to
settle for working hard and scrapping for
possession. Swaffham looked solid in midfield but a
little unsure at the back, Brandon exploited this
when Harry Rampleys run and cross narrowly missed
Jordan Kemp on the far post. Jordan and Harry looked
a little below par however chances came for both and
on better days they would have capitalised.
Swaffham scored with their first attack ,Brandon
failed to clear the leaving the Swaffham striker to
finish past Jack Field in the goal.
Brandon had more chances before Calum Maddix
equalised, he hit a shot which deflected off a
Swaffham defender.
Second half saw both teams working hard Brandon's
defence were tight and played some good football,
the midfield of Jacob Bogle and Joseph Smith were
industrious but were being muscled out by the
Swaffham midfield. Swaffham were next to score when
their hard work created a chance which was put away
smartly.Swaffham now were on a high, they were much
the better team ,Brandon worked hard but were always
second to the ball Chappell and Allen were doing
their best in defence breaking up most attacks well
but they were busier of the two defences, Jack Field
was playing brilliantly in the goal, making some
really good saves but overall doing the simple
things well ,he has become a very consistent young
goalkeeper who is growing in confidence all the
time.
Brandon always have a chance with their forward
line, pace and strength will always create chances
even when the overall performance is missing,
Brandon equalised through Calum Maddix who always
gives his all and well deserved his two goals.Maybe
all Brandon deserved out of the game was a point
however right on the final whistle Harry Rampley
broke and finished well to give Brandon a win.
Mom Jack Field, a true match winning performance.
Sunday 22nd
Oct; Watton Wanderers 4 Brandon Lads 11
Brandon looked good from the start but again looked
as if they would struggle to score In the early
stages Brandon should have scored on four occasions,
this down to the sheer talent of the front three of
Callum Maddix Jordan Kemp and Harry Rampley backed
up well by Jacob Bogle, some of the passing play is
real quality and should reap rewards for Brandon
when the players get older
Watton had some good chances themselves but for Jack
Field in goal who is looking more and more
consistent in the goal.Sam Chappell and Adam Vincent
were also looking good at the back, Chappell making
a speciality of clearing the ball off the line on
two occasions he cleared well. Brandon were still
the better team and finally broke the deadlock
through Jordan Kemp who finished well when put
through by Harry Rampley. Calum Maddix was running
the Watton defenders ragged with is runs and created
more good chances for Brandon. Rampley was the
catalyst for Brandon's performance providing quality
crosses into the box and his passing at times was
outstanding Brandon managed to real press home their
dominance and came off at halftime 5.0 up through
Jordan Kemp who bagged another hat-trick and Rampley
who got two, one provided by Kemp and the other and
real good finish from some way out Second half
started well for Watton they put Brandon under alot
of pressure Joseph Smith and Jacob Bogle came on to
sure up the defence. This seemed to do the trick and
Brandon started to look better again allowing the
strikers the space to run at the Watton defence
Brandon came out winner bagging over ten for the
second this season, Kemp adding two more Calum
Maddix scoring two deserved goals ,Harry Rampley
completing a quality Hat-trick and Sam Chappell
converting an emphatic penalty.
Watton for their part adding and Brandon showed good
fitness and amazing commitment after another two
match weekend
Mom Sam Chappell and Harry Rampley.
Saturday
21st Oct: Brandon lads 1 Wymondham Serpents 2
Brandon started the game slowly, Silfield putting
pressure on the defence.
Silfield are currently top and were playing with
confidence and it was no surprise when they took the
lead through a good finish.
Brandon began to get into the game, a good passing
move created a chance for Jordan Kemp who went close
Silfield broke again soon after and would have
scored but for the heroics of Sam Chappell who clear
off the line. It was really even by now both teams
having their chances, Brandon unlucky on a number of
occasions through Callum Maddix,Harry Rampley and
Jordan Kemp.
It was through defensive errors that the next goal
came Silfeld extending their lead. Halftime seemed
to spur Brandon on and the next ten minutes belong
to them, with a bit more luck in front of goal they
should have reduced the lead, some of the forward
play between Kemp Maddix and in particular Rampley
was outstanding. Silfield came into the game again,
putting pressure again on Brandon, Jack Field again
in top form, making one outstand save and looking
commanding in his area. Defensively Brandon looking
much stronger, the partnership between Chappell and
Adam Vincent is looking very good and with the cover
from Jacob Bogle and our most improved player this
season Joseph Smith, Brandon look better equipped to
challenge against the top teams
Brandon and Silfield looked equally matched for the
rest of the half. Brandon did get back into the game
through Kemps goal and should have equalised through
Maddix when his short hit the crossbar. Overall a
quality game played by two good teams. Mom Sam
Chappell.
Saturday
14th Oct: Brandon Lads 0 Dereham W 1
Its always an entertaining game when these two
attacking teams play, usually plenty of goals grace
the fixture. This time it was a little different,
Dereham were missing a few vital players but were
well organised in defence, Brandon failed to get to
grips with this early on. Half way through the half
Harry Rampley came on and linked up with Jordan Kemp
on a number of occasions to create some good
chances, Harry striking the post on one occasion.
Dereham did have a few attacks in the half but they
were snubbed out before they got too close to Jack
Fields goal.
Second half began in the same way ,defence mindful
not to make any mistakes and attack through pace and
passing creating some good efforts on goal, Harry
Rampleys cross and Jordan Kemps header nearly
creating what would have been a stunning goal.It was
really out of the blue what occurred next, Dereham
had a break, one of strikers hit a speculative shot
which went in despite Jack Fields best efforts.
Brandon spent the rest of the game trying to get the
goal they deserved long shot from Joseph Smith close
,Jordan Kemp ,Calum Maddix and Harry Rampley also
going close The game finished 1.0 to Dereham who
produced a good defensive performance, for Brandon's
part a good solid performance full of endeavour,
which lacked only the end product of a goal or two
Mom Jack Field and Harry Rampley.
Sunday
8thOct: Needham 6 Brandon Lads 4
Brandon were
away against Needham Market B and looking for their
first win of the season. The game kicked off and Needham
attacked and scored 2 quick goals, a substitution after
10 minutes strengthened Brandon’s Resolve. With Lewis
Norton back from injury holding the midfield. Brandon
started to take control of the game causing Needham some
problems. In fact some good teamwork from Harry Rampley
creating an opportunity for Adam Kostecki to pull a goal
back. With Harry scoring the equaliser after taking on
the keeper with about 5 minutes left in the first half,
which is how the half ended. The second half started in
the same way that the first had, but this time Needham
added 4 well taken goals quickly, their passing and
shooting was superb. It would have been more, but for
the work of Sean Hills and Jordan Scott in defence and a
few inspired saves from Jay Tosar. Jack Slaughter came
on to add some fresh legs on a heavy pitch and worked
hard to set up play. Then again Brandon seemed to get
back into the game with a shot from Isaac Allen being
saved and the rebound being put away by Charlie Power
who was getting more involved with some good passing.
Brandon missed some chances to get closer with Harry
hitting the upright and the Needham keeper making a
great save at the feet of Isaac. Again Harry broke free
and saw Adam in the area passing to his feet for Adam to
score his second. Brandon kept pushing but time ran out
before they could score again.
Saturday 7th
Oct: Brandon lads 1 Thetford Bulldogs 6
Brandon entertained last years champions in a
rearranged game
Thetford started the better testing Jack Field
in the Brandon goal on a number of occasions,
Jack was well up to the challenged and made some
outstanding saves to keep the score level. It
was Thetford who opened the with a well taken
goal. Brandon were matching Thetford blow for
blow and it came as no surprise when Jordan Kemp
laid the ball onto Harry Rampley who equalised
with a smart finish with the outside of is left
foot.
The first half was really tight and Brandon did
themselves proud to match a side that is full of
really accomplished players however Thetford
eventually broke down the Brandon defence to
score their second
The second half was end to end however after a
couple of defensive errors and some excellent
finishing Thetford came out winners 6-1.Brandon
had a number of really good chances at times in
the second half to keep the game alive but none
were converted.
Mom Jack Field becoming an accomplish keeper and
a really nice lad.
Sunday 8th Oct: Brandon Lads 4 Watton Rangers
3
Brandon started their second game of the
weekend well, dominating possession well
for much of the half. Watton always
looked dangerous and broke well on a
number of occasions ,Jack Field was
again in fine form and never looked like
getting beaten
Luke Sheppard was also outstanding, he
played with determination, passed well
and set up some good play through to the
midfield.
Jacob Bogle and Culum Maddix ran their
hearts out in midfield and set up the
Sam Chappell and Jordan Kemp up front.
Sam Chappell was first to score when the
ball came across the box, he had the
time and space and hammered the ball
into the corner of the goal
Wantons goalkeeper was playing well and
made a number of good saves to keep
Watton in the game. This gave them the
platform to get into the game
themselves, Watton broke well and scored
a good equaliser leaving Jack Field no
chance.
The second half started Reece Kennedy
made his debut and looked impressive in
defence and Joseph Smith is proving
really dependable at breaking up the
oppositions attacks and playing good
passes into the strikers.
Brandon were stunned when Watton took
the lead with a really good break that
left Brandon short at the back.
It was encouraging to see the way
Brandon reacted ,taking hold of the game
again and mounting some good attacks. It
was Chappell who scored his second to
get back into the game and soon after
Jordan Kemp scored for Brandon to take a
3 2 lead with a really good finish.
Watton again came into the game and were
rewarded with a penalty, despite Jack
Field getting a touch the penalty went
in.
Jordan Kemp was again the match winner
late on in the game to take the points
but it was a good hardworking team
performance that won this really tight
game
Mom Jack Field performance to make his
dad proud.
Sunday 1st
Oct: Stow Town A 1 Brandon Lads 1 (Brandon lost 2-1 on
pens)
From the
start to the finish this was an end to end game. The
game started with Reece Kennedy adding his strength
to the centre of the midfield. The defenders, Isaac
Allen and Jordan Scott had to strong and alert, in
snuffing out several waves of attack by Stowmarket
proving they were a very good solid partnership. The
attack play along the wings from Harry Rampley and
Charlie Power caused problems for the Stowmarket
defence on several occasions. Adam Kostecki played
well competing for every ball up front. Jay Tosar
was as dependable as ever making good saves and his
distribution was excellent. Despite this it was
Stowmarket that got the break through 20 minutes
into the first half and this is how it stayed until
halftime. From the kick off, of the second half
Brandon were pushing for the equaliser. Jack
Slaughter came on in the central midfield role,
Isaac Allen had moved up to the right of midfield
and with Harry Rampley moving to the left. With Jack
taking on the defensive role Brandon were attacking
freely along both wings creating chances. These went
unconverted into goals, until Harry made a darting
solo run and shot that levelled the scores. No other
score came in normal time. This meant extra times
was needed to separate the teams. Both teams started
the extra time well, again it was an end to end
game. In the first half Stowmarket seemed to have
slightly the upper hand. Goalkeeper Jay Tosar needed
to be at his very best, when he had to deal with
three Stowmarket strikers on his own, keeping
Brandon’s hopes alive. In the second half of extra
time Brandon came back into the game and nearly
grabbed a late winner from a Harry Rampley free kick
and a floated ball into the box by Isaac Allen that
couldn't be finished. So it came down to penalties
and both keepers were on good form. Brandon were 1-0
down with one penalty left. Up walked Isaac Allen,
who coolly struck the equaliser. Unfortunately the
joy was short lived as the last Stowmarket penalty
went in, despite Jay getting a hand to it. Every
player on the pitch should be proud of their
performance today, it was a great game to watch.
Sunday 1st
Oct: Dereham wanderers 0 Brandon Lads 5
Brandon played an inexperience Dereham team on a
mild Sunday morning
The pitch was a little overgrown which could have
proved sapping for a Brandon Team who through
injury were without any substitutes
After a slow start which saw Dereham play some nice
football, Brandon found their fluency.
Jacob Bogle was making some nice runs in the
midfield and had some joy bringing into play the
forwards. Chances came along regularly through some
really good passing but we failed to finish off the
chances It was Calum Maddix who made the
breakthrough with a sharp finish. This was what
Brandon needed and with the pressure off they played
well and created three more goals before half time
,Jordan Kemp scored the second after a strong run
and good pass from Sam Chappell. Kemp again got the
third from a long shot which Adam Vincent stepped
over to confuse the keeper. The Dereham goalkeeper
was in inspired form and he was responsible for
keeping the score line respectable. Calum Maddix
converted the third from a cross shot. Second half
didn't produce the goals Brandon maybe deserved
however the performance was excellent, the passing
and general work the boys did for each other was a
joy to watch .Jacob Bogle's performance both on the
ball and off was great when the Dereham team did
break the defence through Sam Chappell, Adam Vincent
and particularly Joseph Smith was able to cope
easily, Jack Field in goal had very little to do in
goal however in the second half when called upon
saved brilliantly from a late break for Dereham.
Jordan Kemp finished off the scoring late on to
complete his hat trick with a fine finish. MOM Jordan
Kemp for a really mature performance
Sunday 24th Sept: St. Johns 3 Brandon Lads 2
This was a hard fought match from start to finish.
In the early exchanges Brandon seemed to have the
slight edge, with Harry Rampley scoring from a
corner. This was soon cancelled out when a mix up
in the defence gave St Johns an opportunity to
equalize. Adam Kostecki battled well in the central
midfield but St Johns took control in the middle of
the park, winning most balls from both teams Goals
kicks. Brandon continued to compete and looked to
have a cutting edge when getting the ball out to the
wide players, Charlie Power and Isaac Allen. Indeed
a run and shot from Isaac was parried away by the
keeper, for an ever alert Harry to slot home. The
second half started as the first had finished with
Brandon unable to win the ball in midfield, St Johns
pressed for an equalizer and Sean Hills and Jordan
Scott were put under lots of pressure with Jay Tosar
being called upon to make too many saves for
comfort. It appeared Brandon could not stop errors
happening with a loose pass going to a St Johns
player on the edge of the Brandon box, gifting them
an equalizer again. Halfway though the second half
Jack Slaughter made his first ever appearance in a
competitive game of football, he stuck to his task
well and broke up the St Johns play on several
occasions. With 3 minutes to go St Johns scored a
well worked goal to take the lead for the first
time. Brandon tried to respond with some good link
up play between Harry and Isaac but could not quite
get a goal to level the game. Some highlights for
Brandon were the performances of Harry Rampley, Sean
Hills and Jack slaughters debut.
Sunday 24th Sept: Brandon lads 15 Northwold 0
