Suffolk Girls League knock out cup 2nd round
A tough game for the Lasses against a physical Copleston
side but they had a great start with Charlotte Howard
scoring in the second minute but a lack of concentration
levelled things up a minute later. Brandon regained the
advantage after a lovely move saw Charlotte set up Dayna
Howard to finish well followed by an own goal from a
corner to make it 3-1. Again the Lasses were slow clearing
their lines as the visitors finished from a loose ball from
a free kick. Charlotte score her second followed by another
good build up and Jenna Grazzini finishing well from the
edge of the box. Copleston kept the pressure on with their
third despite it looking as if the ball had been kicked out
of the keepers hands but Brandon replied as Charlotte headed
in from a corner. Dayna score her second and as it
looked as if the game was over Copleston scored two goals to
make it 7-5 but the lasses replied again with Charllotes
fourth of the match to take the home team into the semi
finals. A very competitive game in which the Lasses had to
compete physically for every ball but still managed to play
good passing football and despite the visitors hitting back
managed to keep the advantage.

Brandon Lasses 1 Downham Market Under 16 0
With no League fixture the Lasses entertained Fenland League
Downham Town. In a very good competitive game the home side
had early opportunities with Charlotte Howard looking really
sharp and was unfortunate seeing her shot rebound off the
post. A strong Downham attacked worked the Lasses
defence hard but they were up for the challenge and Leanne
Smith in goal and April Harrild, Ellen Rumsey and Sasha
Frost-Palmer put in terrific performances. Jenna Grazzini
worked tirelessly in midfield as did Lini Vaccaro and Paige
Kenny. With Dayna Howard controlling the centre of mid-field
and distributing the ball well it looked a matter of time
before Brandon took an advantage but the visitors defended
well and when they were beaten the keeper was in good form.H/T
0-0
A very good entertaining first half took a bit out the girls
and Downham pressured more in the second half but again the
home defence with Evie Laddell dropping deep dominant
in the air did their job. With the game looking to
end in a draw Paige Kenny broke with 10 mins to go and
finished well. Downham could have equalised in the final
minutes but a very good save by Leanne Smith gave the Lasses
the victory. A very good game and very good Lasses team
performance!

Brandon lasses 3 Boxford Rovers Youth Girls 2
Tesco U16 Suffolk Cup
Brandon hosted Boxford Rovers in the qtr final of the
under 16 Tesco cup. After good early pressure the Lasses
looked to have the upper hand but needed to finish, . The
visitors closed the ball down well and were always dangerous
on the break but the back four of Dowe, Harrild, Colella and
Frost-Palmer looked comfortable with Smith controlling her
area in goal. Kenny, Eastwood, C Howard and Pieri all looked
capable of making a break through and Kenny did just that
mid-way through the half. The girls were guilty of dropping
their game leading into the break and Boxford capitalised
with an equaliser right on half time.
This lifted the visitors and they came out strong from
the start of the second half putting the Lasses defence
under pressure and taking the lead. Brandon then started to
take control again with D Howard and King starting to boss
midfield, King had a couple of good long range efforts
before D Howard put in a good ball from the right for C
Howard to tuck away with a first time finish. Vaccaro was
introduced putting in a solid performance in the
Lasses defence. Boxford were always capable of breaking as
the home team looked for the winner but it was the Lasses
who scored the winning goal Dowe sneaking in at the far post
to head home with a well deserved goal and good
all-round performance. A very good team performance stepping
up to 11 a-side against under 16 opposition but
could have had the game out of sight at the interval with
better finishing.

Brandon Lasses 8 Witnesham Wasps
A strong start from then visitors saw them take an early
deserved lead. Witnesham continued to pressure the ball well
and the Lasses struggled to get their game going but always
looked dangerous on the break. Late in the half Charlotte
Howard equalised followed by a flurry of goals from Paige
Kenny, another from Charlotte and Francesca
Bonnett 2 to give Brandon a 5-1 lead at h/t.
Again the home side sat back early in the half and again
Witnesham scored a deserved goal but the Lasses then
finished the game off with Sasha Frost Palmer setting up
Charlotte for her hat trick followed by her fourth of the
game. Ellen Rumsey then threaded a neat ball through for
Paige to finish first time to make the final score 8-2
Despite the score the visitor pressured well and played
their apart in a tough game.

Brandon Lasses 9 Stowupland Falcons 1
After a couple of good early chances the
Lasses took an early lead from a well delivered corner which
was deflected in. Francesca Bonnett then scored after some
good play between her and Charlotte Howard; Charlotte then
got herself on the score sheet and added her second and the
Lasses 4th from a good ball from Lini Vaccaro. H/T
4-0
Brandon started the second half scoring after
a April Harrild free kick sent Paige Kenny through to slot
home but the visitors then a good period of pressure and pulled
a goal back. Paige responded with a great individual goal
followed by two more goal from Charlotte before Francesca
completed the scoring with her second. Once again Dayna Howard
and Jenna Grazzini put in superb midfield performances
and a very tidy team performance with some very good
passing football.

Bury Town 2 Brandon Lasses 6
The home side started
well putting the visitors under early pressure but the
Lasses had the best chance after some great individual work
by Paige Kenny saw her shot come off the post. Bury then took
the advantage through Amelia Deuchars finishing well.
After their slow start Brandon pulled things back by half
time with Jenna Grazzini slotting home from well delivered
corner and Charlotte Howard scoring right on the
break.
The Lasses new they needed to respond in the second period
and did just that, Bury always looked dangerous through
Deuchars but April Harrild did a very good job containing
her to limited chances. Lini Vacaro made her Lasses debut
putting in a strong performance and the whole team pulled
together and added three more goals with Jenna adding
her second and Charlotte completing her hat trick with a
lovely strike. Bury pulled another goal back but Brandon
responded through Francesca Bonnett to make the final
score 2-6 to Brandon.
Sunday 21 Sept 2008
Brandon Lasses 5 Copleston 1
The home team got off to a great start from a neat ball from
Charlotte Howard set up Francesca Bonnett who finished well
lobbing the keeper.
Copleston equalised with a long range effort but the Lasses
regained the lead after some good work by Paige Kenny set up
Charlotte who finished well. Dayna Howard then scored with a
terrific 25 yard free kick into the top corner. The Lasses
were playing some tidy football with Dayna distributing the
ball superbly and Jenna Grazinni dominating the
midfield battle. Francesca added her second in the second
half rounding the keeper and tucking the ball home.
Piage Kenny finished the scoring with a deserved goal after
another very good performance. Brandons defence were put
under pressure late on but they looked in control with
Leanne Smith dominant in goal and April Harrild , Ellen
Rumsey and Sasha Frost -Palmer mopping up well. Sash was
unfortunate late on not to be on the score sheet on her home
league debut as she pushed forward and has really
started to fit in well with this Lasses squad!

Bacton 2 Brandon Lasses 13
Brandon opened the new season in fine form against a
spirited Bacton side. The home side were limited to a bare
nine and despite holding the Lasses to 3 goal deficit at the
interval with goals coming from Francesca Bonnett the
home side struggled to contain them in the second with no
substitute to call on. The Lasses passed the ball
around well and stared to open up the home defence Francesca
was in superb form scoring ten goals, Charlotte Howard
scored two and Paige Kenny a very good individual goal.
Bacton pulled two goals back late in the game but a very
good team performance all round!
