Sunday 9th May 2010 Brandon Lads U9's 5 Thetford Bulldogs 1
Scorers: Jake Vincent 3, Callam Horn 2
Brandon welcomed Bulldogs who kindly presented Dawson Davidson (currently being treated for Leaukemia) with a get well soon card signed by all their players. This was a fantastic gesture by the Bulldogs Management & Team and set the stage for an excellent game on a sunny Sunday morning.
Brandon got off to a flying start and took the lead within 2 minutes when Jake Vincent finished off an excellent series of passes from Ben Long, Stephen Clarke and Alex Matthews. Bulldogs immediately bounced back when Reese had an excellent shot only to be denied by another outstanding save from Will Bales in the Brandon goal. Reese was looking lively up front for Bulldogs and tried his luck shortly after with a fierce drive from 25 yards that just went wide. The Bulldogs keeper was also being tested and made a couple of excellent saves, one from Jake Vincent and the other from Callam Horn. Alex Matthews was back to his old self and looking dangerous up and down the left flank and Ben Long looked strong in the Brandon defence. Jake Vincent caused Bulldogs all sorts of problems up front and was awarded a penalty for being pushed from behind in the box. Up steps Callam Horn and slots the ball home from the spot 2-0 with 15 mins gone.
In the second quarter Bulldogs fought back hard and John was having an outstanding game in the Bulldogs goal. Cameron Francis and Tyler Churchill came on for Alex Matthews and Stephen Clarke. Brandon were caught knapping and Reese broke through for Bulldogs to make it 2-1 with a well deserved goal. Pedro was excellent (as usual) at the back for Bulldogs and managed to contain the lively Brandon strike force single handedly. Callam Horn looked dangerous pushing forward and was unlucky when he struck the post twice before finishing off the quarter with an excellent individual run to make it 3-1 at half time
In the third and fourth quarters Brandon piled on the pressure and began to relax, Jake Vincent added 2 more goals to his tally and Callam Horn just missed with a left foot curling ball that just went wide. Ben Long (Players Player) was outstanding again and kept things tight at the back of the defence. Bulldogs never gave up and still looked threatening but the score remained 5-1 to Brandon at the finish. A convincing win and well done an excellent performance!

Final Score Wymondham 1 Brandon Lads 0
Brandon visited Wymondham for the match following the league cup final. It was always going to be a hard match on a changeable Sunday morning. Brandon got off to a good start and were unlucky not to take the lead when Jake Vincent was put through only for the excellent Wymondham keeper to make a vital save.
Brandon were controlling possession but Wymondham always looked dangerous on the break and were unlucky when Jacob Bush went just wide the other end.
In the second quarter Brandon piled on the pressure and Stephen Clarke made some excellent tackles as Wymondham tried to push forward. Callam Horn was unlucky not to score but just missed and Jake Vincent shot directly at the keeper twice. Wymondham took the lead against the run of play after 25 minutes when a corner was blown by the wind directly into the Brandon net. Tyler Churchill caused Wymondham problems down the right side and was having an excellent game, he was unlucky when his shot went just wide.
In the third quarter Brandon piled on the pressure but could not break the deadlock, they had chance after chance that went wide, over the bar or saved by the excellent Wymondham keeper (Man of the Match). Stephen Clarke worked tirelessly in midfield again and made some excellent committed tackles with Alex Matthews on the left wing trying to penetrate the Wymondham defence.
Man of the Match - Ben Long
In the last fifteen minutes Brandon were again unlucky several times but chance after chance was missed and the game ended 1-0 to Wymondham. Will Bales had another good game in the Brandon goal and was never really troubled by the Wymondham attack, the Brandon defence was excellent again but the attackers couldn't break through. Bad luck boys, keep you heads up, remember our excellent Cup win and lets prepare properly for next week.

League Cup Final
Wymondham 0 Brandon Lads 3
Scorers: Jake Vincent 2, Cameron Francis 1
Before the Cup Final started both sets of players and coaches lined up to wish each other well. This set the tone for the game and things got off to an immediate start with both teams looking dangerous. It was always going to be tight considering both teams have never played each other. Ben Long was unlucky not to open the scoring for Brandon when he struck a beautiful ball from 35 yards for it to go just wide. Wymondham were also looking sharp on the break but Will Bales in the Brandon goal made an immediate impact by clearing the ball long. After the first 15 minutes things were even but Wymondham probably exerted the most pressure on the Brandon defence. Alex Matthews, Jake Vincent and Stephen Clarke looked a little frustrated up front so it was time to change the formation.
Slight re-shuffle and Brandon strengthened up their midfield with Stephen Clarke and moved Jake Vincent back up front. This had an immediate impact and Jake looked dangerous pushing forward. Jake managed to wriggle free from his marker and take an excellent shot that was parried to the keeper, only for Cameron Francis (on for Alex Matthews) to pick it up and rifle it into the back of the Wymondham net from an acute angle, brilliant goal. So at half time 1-0 to Brandon but Wymondham had at least 50% of the play and looked dangerous on the break. Callam Horn and Ben Long were exceptional in defence for Brandon and Stephen Clarke was covering every blade on the lush Watton surface. Jake Vincent and Cameron Francis looked dangerous when Brandon moved forward.
After half time both teams started to relax and play some excellent football. The play was even again with both teams looked capable of scoring. Cameron Francis was unlucky not to increase Brandon's lead but for an excellent save from the Wymondham keeper. Wymondham had their chances but Will Bales was determined to keep a clean sheet and was having a "man of the match" performance in the Brandon goal. Jake Vincent started to get a bit of space and up he popped to slam Brandon into a 2-0 lead and release a bit of pressure in a "nervy" game.
In the last 15 minutes Wymondham ploughed forward in numbers and were unlucky not to score but time after time Will Bales made excellent saves to keep Brandon in front. This left space for Brandon to counter attack and Tyler Churchill (on for Cameron Francis) and Jake Vincent linked up well to create more chances. Callam Horn was strong in defence and nothing really got past him, he had an excellent game and looked dangerous pushing forward. Jake Vincent finished things off with 5 minutes to go with a cool finish to take his total for the season to 165 league and cup goals. Well done boys and excellent performance and an excellent game of football from 2 super teams!

Brandon welcomed Lakenheath on a damp miserable Sunday morning. Brandon looked sharp from the start and put the Lakenheath keeper under immediate pressure. Callam Horn and Jake Vincent were both denied by excellent saves and Alex Matthews went just wide early on. Stephen Clarke was looking good on the right wing and consistently delivered good balls across the Lakenheath box. Jake Vincent also hit the post before shooting again only for Alex Matthews to follow up with an excellent tap in for 1-0. Jake then added one himself with a speculative shot from 40 yards which Alex Matthews stepped over to fool the excellent Lakenheath keeper for 2-0. Will Bales, in the Brandon goal, made a good save to keep the home team ahead before Jake Vincent and Callam Horn both hit the woodwork before the first break.
In the second fifteen minutes Brandon turned up the pressure and Stephen Clarke finished off a Jake Vincent shot, Jake Vincent slotted one past the Lakenheath keeper, Callam Horn scored an excellent individual goal from a Stephen Clarke through ball and Alex Matthews added one himself to make it 6-0 at half time.
After the break Jake Vincent scored an outstanding volley from a flighted Stephen Clarke corner. Tyler Churchill came on for Alex Matthews and worked hard on the left. Jake added another slotting the keeper low down but Lakenheath never gave up and were rewarded with a good worked passing goal for 8-1. Cameron Francis was looking sharp before coming off with an injury with Ben Long also.
In the last 15, Brandon secured the match and played some superb passing football, Jake Vincent added another before Lakenheath scored their second with a super free kick finished off with an excellent header from Harrison. Alex Matthews made it 10-2 for Brandon before Jake Vincent finished the match off with a good strike from a Callam Horn throw in 11-2 and a superb performance today against tough opposition - well done.

Thetford Indies A 1 Brandon Lads 0
Another re-arranged league match saw Brandon visit Thetford Indies. The match was even from the start with both keepers making some excellent saves early on to keep things at 0-0. Thetford Indies managed to take the lead after 8 minutes with a scramble that saw the ball poked over the line and past the Brandon keeper.
In the second quarter the teams were evenly matched and possesion was 50-50. Will Bales made another excellent save in the Brandon goal and Brandon defended well, but so did Indies and their keeper was also confident and managed to keep hold of any Brandon shots on target - half time and a deserved 1-0 to Indies.
After the break Brandon managed to control the play a bit more and made some excellent passes, they were unlucky not to equalise but the ball just wouldn't go in, Cameron Francis, Tyler Churchill, Alex Matthews, Stephen Clarke and Jake Vincent worked hard up front with Callam Horn and Ben Long looking steady at the back. Will Bales was exceptional in the Brandon goal.
In the last 15 minutes Brandon began to open up the play and pile the pressure on Indies but the Indies defence was superb and made some brilliant interceptions and last ditch tackles. Jake Vincent was unlucky not to score when his venomous shot was just tipped over for a corner. Shortly after Stephen Clarke just missed equalising when his shot glanced the crossbar from 5 yards and went behind for a goal kick. Fair play to Indies they played some excellent passing football and defended brilliantly but the game ended with Brandon's first competitive league / cup loss in over two and a half years - well done boys, you never gave up and dealt with the defeat with dignity and professionalism.

Firstly I would like to thank Mulbarton for supplying a perfect playing surface for good football.Brandon started off with good form and soon took the lead though Jake Vincent.1-0. Cameron Francis was available this week and his runs down the wing always troubled the Mulbarton defence. Ben Long, desperate for a goal for the last few weeks, had a ball rolled back to him which he hammered into the back of the Harling net to settle Brandon down. Dawson Davidson was full of beans on the left and added another shortly afterwards with a super strike from a Jake Vincent through ball to make it 2-0 with 15 minutes gone. Cameron Francis consistently beat his marker on the right but couldn't quite get the ball across for the Brandon strikers to finish off.

Thetford Bulldogs 0 Brandon 3
Scorers: Jake Vincent 2, Callam Horn
This match always looked interesting with Bulldogs sitting at the top of the league and Brandon in third place, although played less games. The first fifteen minutes was pretty even apart from Brandon missing an early penalty, Callam Horn blasting over from 30 yards and Ben Long hitting the Bulldogs crossbar from nearly half way. Both teams went to the first break 0-0. Alex Matthews looked sharp on the left and Stephen Clarke was tackling hard on the right side.
In the next quarter Brandon started to exert some pressure and pin Bulldogs back into their own half. In an excellent Brandon move the ball was laid back to Callam Horn who from 20 yards, rifled the ball into the top of the Bulldogs net for 1-0 to the visitors. This was quickly followed by a trademark Jake Vincent goal from 10 yards which was struck with venom 2-0. Ben Long was having an excellent game and controlling most of the play from the defence. He was unlucky himself not to score from an excellent shot from 25 yards. Dawson Davidson, on for Alex Matthews, looked strong again charging up and down the left and playing some excellent balls into the centre. Jake Vincent was unlucky again when his shot struck the cross bar. Bulldogs never gave up and were always in with a chance at 2-0 with a couple of excellent corners that just went wide. Will Bales in the Brandon goal made an excellent one on one save to keep Brandon ahead and dealt with everything else that the Bulldogs strikers threw at him 2-0 to Brandon at half time.
In the third quarter, the play was fairly even again and Dawson Davidson was unlucky not to score when the excellent Bulldogs keeper made a good save. Alex Matthews was back on for Stephen Clarke this time and was drifting on the right hand side and causing the Bulldogs defence problems with his pace. No more scoring but the Brandon defence looked pretty tight with Ben Long and Callam Horn totally in control.
In the last quarter Jake Vincent looked strong and tackled back well to keep his team in front. Stephen Clarke, back on for Matty, hit the Bulldogs post with an excellent strike which was cleared. To round things off and as Bulldogs pushed forward for a goal Jake Vincent was played through one on one with the keeper, which he rounded and slotted into the Bulldogs net for 3-0 - well done boys an excellent, hard fought win!

Thetford Indies visited Brandon on a cold wintery day. Although there had been rain the pitch was perfect for a cup semi final. Brandon started off well and had two early chances to take the lead but Jake Vincent just couldn't quite capitalise on them. Back came Indies and they caught Brandon cold with 3 early strikes that put them 3-0 up, something that Brandon were certainly not used to from any other league opponents Fair play to Indies they played some excellent passing football and created a number of excellent chances. Brandon's heads dropped momentarily but they suddenly realised that there was still 45 minutes to play.
A quick re-shuffle after the first break saw the introduction of Dawson Davison for Cameron Francis, he made an immediate impact putting Jake Vincent through for him to smash the ball into the back of the Indies net to give Brandon a glimmer of hope at 3-1. Shortly after Brandon started to turn on the style and Stephen Clarke added another goal from a rebounded Jake Vincent shot to put Brandon one behind at 3-2. Callam Horn and Ben Long started to get into their stride and played some excellent balls from the back. Stephen Clarke covered every blade of grass in midfield and Jake Vincent and Dawson Davison were outstandindin up front, surely Brandon couldn't come back from a 3-0 deficit? The Brandon boys were having none of it and ploughed forward with strength. Jake Vincent played Stephen Clarke through and he rifled the ball into the net to level things up - half time 3-3 phew!
In the third quarter Brandon piled on the pressure and were rewarded again when Callam Horn played the ball through to Dawson on the wing, who in turn crossed the ball and up pops Jake Vincent to smash another crucial goal into the Indies net 4-3 to Brandon and the boys were flying. Brandon were now controlling the play and Dawson Davison was unlucky not score as he struck the post from 20yds and the rebound was cleared quickly. Will Bales was outstanding in the Brandon goal and made some excellent interceptions when required.
What happened next was somewhat confusing and the Thetford Indies coach decided to forfeit the game as his boys were cold, so Brandon go through to the Cup Final to be faced by Wymondham who beat Mundford in a closely fought match that was finally decided on penalties 6-5.

Brandon visited Mundford on a rather decent Sunday morning. Mundford started off well and were causing Brandon problems all over the pitch with their excellent passing and movement off the ball. Will Bales, in the Brandon goal made an excellent save early on to keep Brandon level but Mundford continued to pressure the Brandon defence and totally control the game for the first 15 minutes. Mundford were committed, well organised and looked hungry to upset the league leaders from the start. The first quarter ended 0-0 but Mundford were passing the ball around much better than Brandon.
In the second 15 minutes Mundford were awarded a penalty that was dispatched beautifully into the top corner of the net - 1-0 to Mundford. Brandon Lads 13 Morley 2
Brandon welcomed Morley for the first Match of a new competitive season in the South Norfolk Youth League. The first 10 minutes of the game were quiet with both teams cancelling each other out. Alex Turner was showing some tenacious tackling at the back, and Callam Horne & Ben Long both went close with long range efforts. After 10 minutes Brandon went 1-0 up, when a low corner was deflected into the net for an own goal, this settled the nerves and was quickly followed by a long range shot from Callam that hit the post, and a great move down the right, starting with a strong tackle and pass down the line by Ben Long, an excellent run and pull back by Cameron Francis and ending with a shot and narrow miss by Jake Vincent. A similar passing move resulted in the second goal, Ben, Callam and Cameron played a neat triangle before Ben played Jake in with a lobbed pass just clearing the last defender, Jake’s finish was a perfectly weighted lob over the advancing keeper. Callam wrapped up the 1st quarter with a long range dipping shot to make it 3–0.
In the 2nd Quarter, Stephen Clarke made his Brandon debut at left back, where he had a very solid game, and Jake showed great strength, composure, and finishing in front of goal, his 2nd goal came in the 11th minute, controlling a throw-in and firing in off the post, Callam intercepted a loose ball in midfield and passed to Jake who scored his 3rd, he took on a defender and beat the keeper for his 4th after another interception and pass from Ben Long, and his 5th goal followed a goalmouth scramble after a strong run and cross by Stephen. Cameron and Callam both came close with long range shots. Half-time 8-0.
Brandon were comfortably in front at half-time and reshuffled slightly when Alex “Matty” Matthews & Tyler Churchill were brought on to start the 3rd quarter. Tyler made an instant impact with a half-volleyed lob/shot from close to the halfway line that cleared the keeper before bouncing just over the cross-bar, another chance was made 2 minutes later, Ben passed to Matty who beat his marker and crossed perfectly, but Jake couldn’t quite get on the end of it. After 40 minutes, Tyler scored a well deserved goal, running onto Matty’s throw-in, holding off a defender and shooting past the keeper from just inside the box. Only one goal in the quarter, but some highlights included Ben’s tracking back, well timed tackles and excellent passing, Jake striking the post and causing the Morley defenders lots of problems, and the previously untroubled Goal Keeper, Will Bales, racing off his line to make a crucial tackle on the edge of his box.
Will started the final quarter, where he left off, by running out to the corner flag and clearing the ball. At the other end of the pitch, Tyler carried the ball from halfway, passed inside to Jake whose square pass was converted by Cameron for his 1st goal of the game, his 2nd goal soon followed when he controlled a pass from Callam before hitting a great low drive past the keeper. It was now 11 – nil but to their credit, Morley never gave up, and got their reward with 2 goals in 2 minutes. Brandon continued to work hard, and wrapped the game up with two more goals, one from Jake who fired home after picking up a loose goal kick from the Morley Keeper, and one from Tyler who made a storming run down the left, carrying the ball out of defence to halfway where he lost possession, Stephen picked up the loose ball and played a great ball down the line for Tyler to run onto, cut inside and fire an unstoppable shot past the Morley keeper, a well deserved goal! Final score 13-2.
Great team performance from both sides, and played in a great atmosphere, well done to both teams and supporters! Also, thanks to Referee Paul Kent who was rated 100% by both Coaches!
